Selma Benomar, the prestigious Dubai-based caftan label, has recently launched its 2018 Bridal Collection, “True Love”. The designer is well known as the region´s go-to label for statement-embellished caftans. Worn by the who´s who of Arab celebrities, Selma Benomar brings her vision of a wedding to life with 8 exclusive dresses. Each piece is handmade in her Dubai-based atelier.

Founded in 2012, Selma Benomar caftans are synonyms for the impeccable quality and lush work. Though simplistic, each piece is uniquely defined by color palette, a mix of embroidery and stonework.  The new bridal collection “True Love” is said to be inspired by the dreams and memoirs that every girl has linked to her wedding, painting a picture that is stunning, heartwarming and yet extremely in fashion!

The Moroccan heritage-depicting designer also took influence from the timelessness of a wedding dress, the elegance and the emotion it brings to every woman. Selma wanted these caftans to be almost like a masterpiece to the bride, which she cherishes and takes forward for generations to come. The beautiful blends of colors in this bridal collection are a complement to the feminine cuts and structure. With base colors like beige,off-whites, silvers, and gold, the caftans are a contrasting shade to their original feeling. Carefully sourced from Milan and Paris, Selma Benomar’s choice of fabric is selective and stellar. The brand also only uses the most high-quality crystals and embellishments, selected especially from Germany and France.

Selma Benomar mentioned her thoughts on the collection: “Weddings can be the most important day is a woman’s life and it is so important for the bride to feel special. The range of caftans brings in luxury, exquisiteness and also our ambition for making every woman feel absolutely stunning in the pieces, creating almost like a tradition for her family to carry.” She said.

Speaking to us more about the versatility of the collection and whether the pieces can be worn by anyone other than the bride, Salma said;  “Absolutely! The caftans can be worn by anyone, surely the bride’s sisters, cousins or friends. We have a theme of contemporary yet traditionally rich look to the collection. It depends on the styling and the look you are opting for, and the caftan can look amazing even for an attending sister or friend.”

Shedding more light on the element that sets the collection apart from the rest Salma said, “We take pride in our caftans with their impeccable quality and lush embroidery and stonework, which mixes the contradictory elements of simplicity and yet fancy. I also ensure that we use only the best of everything, be it fabric, crystals and even my time!  I spend hours designing and layering caftans on a mannequin, unlike the expected sketches. Once I am happy with an image mentally, I get to work. Also, we create the most unusual yet striking color combinations, shades that never have been paired together and that’s one more thing that makes these caftans a dear favorite of my clients. I’m also always keen to have a new detail each season, for this bridal collection, I have introduced a new sleeve cut unusual for Moroccan Caftans cuts. That is my highlight for 2018.

Adding more about the sense of the style and fashion of the modern woman, Salma said, “I think that the women in this region are extremely stylish and do know a thing or two about fashion. As we saw previously the various trends around wedding dresses, girls are now less conventional to the Cinderella-like gowns and heavily decorative pieces. Those dresses had their own charm and splendor though nowadays a lot of women opt for simplistic luxury, something they can take with them for the years to come. Of course, every girl wants to feel like a princess on her big day, it’s a beautiful feeling and I am glad that most girls are now able to translate their dream wedding look into reality, no matter what it is.”
