‘pdl’ Cycle Themed Barbershop and Café
‘pdl’ Sets a Revolution Offering the Community a Convenient and Relaxed Atmosphere to Chat and Get a Cut
pdl (pronounced pedal), a first-of-its-kind concept space that combines a barbershop, cycling, and coffee occupies a prime location on Sheikh Zayed Road. Set to open in January 2018, pdl adds to the community spirit around Al Safa and the Dubai Canal area by fusing the camaraderie of men’s grooming, a general sense of belonging amongst cyclists, and friendly vibes at cafes into one modern space.
Founded by three Emiratis who combined their love for cycling, coffee, crews, cruise, and cuts, pdl was an idea inspired by the community culture the trio witnessed at similar sport-themed cafes around the world. They wanted to bring this fostering of unity within society to Dubai, however, with an edge.
This came in the form of a convenient barbershop, complete with a service menu to match the theme; this includes ‘handlebar’ manicures, so the boys can cycle in spirit even when grooming. If there’s one thing men may love as much as sport and good coffee, it’s a decent haircut. Keeping true to the theme, there’s also a recovery booth for cyclists to refresh and relax after a ride.
After all, what’s a community if it doesn’t involve everyone? With earthy and metallic tones and an industrial-chic vibe, pdl exudes an inclusive and infectiously friendly spirit from the moment you walk in.
Not to be confused with a ‘man cave’- the trendy new den for men welcomes all- so ladies can feel free to catch up with the girls at the coffee shop between lunch breaks, school drop-offs, after office hours, or even unwind with a cup of coffee while the men in their lives are getting groomed.
pdl’s DNA is simple – a relaxed space built to hang out with friends at a convenient neighborhood spot. Just good vibes, coffee, cuts, cycling, and no string attached. At pdl, you can ride good, feel good and look good.
