The Big BBQ Social – Review
The Big BBQ Social Season 2
The Big BBQ Social returned to its second season at The Secret Garden, Jumeirah Creekside Hotel Dubai. While the weather is still tolerable in the UAE, the cloudy day brought a number of K9 lovers out for the laidback day of fun under the sun with the sweet smoky smell of BBQ filling the air.
The vast dedicated BBQ area invited all the meat overs to fire up their own style of BBQ at one of the communal wood and charcoal BBQ stations set up on the green grass, there was also a designated non-halal area to grill. Guests were welcomed to bring their own meat or purchase it from N&R Butchery and cook up a storm. The gourmet butcher on site supplied plenty for the meat lovers, in case they went short of supplies or just wanted to hang out for some more time. But for those who just wanted to chill there were food stalls offering delectable fare with a menu cooked by the specialists.
While furry friends were the main focus of the event, kids also had their plates full with plenty of games, arts & crafts, and live entertainment to keep them busy throughout the day. The onsite nursery took care of the little ones with plenty of activities and games to keep them busy.
Charl Chaka, Founder of The Big BBQ Social, said: “Following our successful launch last year, we’ve received plenty of requests and encouragement from the pet-loving community. We welcome all members of the family including our beloved pets, which makes us different from all other events around town. Thanks to our partners, we can bring everyone together again in a new luscious green playground with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere before the summer kicks in.”
The event was particularly targeted to dog owners and K9 lovers. Many proud families walked in with their furry friends into the Doggo Heaven making new fur-friends in the doggie play zone supervised by professional staff from My Second Home. Animal lovers and children were welcomed to play with the cute puppies from K9 Friends, SNIFF, and 38 Smiles looking for a “Furever home” in the Rescue Zone. Taking over the Pamper Zone is dog groomer center Pets in the City where you could reward your little floofers.
For a perfect soundtrack, South African live electronic band GOODLUCK entertained everyone. The trio’s irresistible blend of electronica, jazz and pop have earned them nine top 10 radio singles, five Number 1 hits, five South African Music Award nominations and the opening act for Pharrell Williams, as a part of his world tour. They will be supported by local bands Sandstörm.
The Big BBQ Social was a lovely family event, packed with like-minded people and families. The good weather, outdoorsy feel and relaxed vibes made a perfect day of fun, family, and furry friends.
