THE BENCH BRUNCH AT THE DAILY – REVIEW
With distinct funky, modern and artsy vibes, The Bench Brunch at The Daily Restaurant, Rove Healthcare City Dubai, offers a more sustainable approach to the usual brunch offered everywhere else in Dubai. A far cry from the luxuriously laden 5 stars hotels in Dubai, Rove at Healthcare city is designed for the young and the modern, for the people who believe in the new world order without limitation and of course no strings attached. Going by the philosophy of you pay for what you need, the hotel offers a number of pocket-friendly, sustainable solution for its guests.
Famous for its family-friendly casual brunch, we headed to the Rove at the Healthcare city to uncover what was in store for us. After conveniently parking our car at the basement parking (no valet service as part of the hotel’s ethos) we took the elevator to the main lobby. With ample natural light, the ambiance was instantly fresh, airy and contemporary, with clear elements of industrial and tech-savvy millennial world.
As soon as you enter the restaurant the space seems to open up even more, with benches, canteen-style tables and chairs huge shelves with modern amenities, a separate bar/coffee counter, an open kitchen and a nicely laid out buffet which includes salad, cold cuts, sandwiches, tarts, cheese, fresh fruits and delectable desserts. The restaurant gives a feel of a causal style street diner on a pleasant Friday morning at world’s famous metropolises. Besides the main buffet full of fresh items for the breakfast, an a la carte menu placed on every table offers more filling, freshly cooked breakfast treats and main course options. We ordered the Chicken Dum Biryani and Beef Cheese Burger for our main course. The order took 10 minutes to reach our table, while we savored the fresh open buffet offerings as well as the detoxifying mix of fresh juices and smoothies.
The main course came in an earthen clay pot, essential to all Indian biryanis, complete with the side of lemon pickle, yogurt sauce, and pappadum. Without a doubt being and connoisseur of biryani, The Rove’s biryani was fragrant, well cooked and delectable. Except the fact that it was extremely hot and I had to wait to let it cool, it was a perfect mix of spices, rice, and the protein. Our second main was the huge burger with a good one-inch thick beef patty. It came with a side of French fries and coleslaw. The burger had a distinct taste probably because of the tangy spicy homemade sauce, and it was quite filling.
We finished off the whole experience with a cup of the coffee prepared by the expert barista. Overall it turned out to be a nice experience, very easy-going without any fuss, with simple dishes and healthier buffet options and more than anything else a decent price tag.
