BOLLYWOOD PARKS™ DUBAI – Review
BOLLYWOOD PARKS™ Dubai is the world’s first and only Bollywood-themed attraction, dedicated to the legendary Bollywood film industry. A celebration of everything Bollywood, the park is divided into 5 zones inspired by Bollywood blockbusters, where you can enjoy live entertainment, stage performances and immersive cinematic rides promising an experience like never before. Located within the sprawling Dubai Parks and Resorts, Bollywood Parks Dubai is the ultimate place for the Bollywood fans and for anyone who is looking to have a good time Bollywood style.
Recently, as the weather was great I planned a trip to the BOLLYWOOD PARKS™ Dubai with my kids and a close friend (who is an eager Bollywood fan). I had heard a lot about the park but what actually awaited me came as a pleasant surprise. As soon as we parked our car, we headed straight to Riverland™ Dubai which is the gateway to Dubai Parks & Resorts. Riverland™ Dubai is a themed, fun, dining and retail destination which you can access without purchasing a ticket. From Riverland, we made our way to the BOLLYWOOD PARKS™ which isn’t obviously hard to miss. As soon as you turn towards it a number of sculptures, accents, and colorful Indian themed elements welcome you and you can almost sense what’s next. With a massive facade that replicates the famous Mughal fort Lal Qila aka the Red Fort in India, a huge neon sign and famous Bollywood billboards instantly transport you to the subcontinent. Before we made our way in, we were just in time for the daily dance performance taking place just outside at the entrance of the Bollywood Parks. A troupe of energetic performers, clad in vivid and colorful traditional attires, performed to the latest Bollywood tunes, turning the outside arena into an instant dance floor.
After the animated performance, we headed straight to the park. The place resonated with the Bollywood/Indian theme from every angle. From the entrance to the rides, the walkways, to the stalls everything brimmed with the obvious charms of the Indian film industry. We made our way to the first ride as I was told by my friend who had visited it before to try out Don: The Chase! The ride celebrated the elusive character of Don played by Indian heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan, who takes you to the dangerous world of Interpol agents and chase the slippery mafia boss Don through the spectacular city of Dubai. The thrilling 3D media tunnel ride is a simulated and immersive epic chase through iconic skyscrapers trying to catch the Don. The queue outside the ride was long, but the wait was worth it. The area leading to the simulator was tactfully designed, complete with all the hints and crime scene enactments.
Next, since we were famished we decided to try some Indian snacks. So, we headed to Victoria Station serving delicious Indian snack in a replica of the famous Victoria Terminus. We ordered chana with Puri, Chana chaat and traditional Karak Chai, while seated in a life-size reproduction of a train compartment. The food was piquant and tasty and we had a real feel of what it’s like to be at the station in Bombay.
After snacking we headed to the second ride Lagaan: The Thrill of Victory. The ride is loosely based on the Bollywood blockbuster Lagaan, that brings the story of the win of the indigenous people with the British colonials over a Cricket match. Set amidst an idyllic village and surrounded by rocky terrain and farms you get to be in the game with a motion simulator-based ride that gives you the best point of view of a moving cricket ball. The ride was fully immersive with water sprays and gusts of wind doubling the fun. We loved the ride and recommend it to anyone visiting Bollywood Parks. There are plenty of smaller rides and carnival games just outside the Lagaan Arena, so if you want some extra fun the kids can try the rides of you can your luck with the games.
With plenty of action, adventure, romance, comedy, music, dance, flavor and emotion, Bollywood style, Bollywood Parks is sure to mesmerize you with Bollywood musicals, movie star look-a-like, and a lot more, in the wonderful city of Dubai.
